Use of social media- how much beneficial or harmful
With each passing day, social media is
gaining importance in our lives where thousands of people are interconnected to
each other for the sake of news and information. Twitter and Facebook are this
century’s most famous websites, and these websites users are there in all over
the world.
According to Eric Coleman’s book Social
omics, every 1 out of 5 relations or interactions are internet based and social
media is also held responsible for many of the divorces.
If we analyze the numbers of Facebook
users according to population per country, then Facebook seems to be world’s 3rd
largest country even Justin bieber’s, Katy Perry’s and Lady Gaga’s Twitter
followers are more compared with the population of Germany, Turkey, South
Africa, Argentine, Egypt and Canada.
On social media, we can talk about
anything and each person belonging to any race or color can find people as they
like with whom the relations can turn into real life relations.
Those who talk on social media, must be
keeping in mind that whatever they talk about, they can be held answerable for
that and if someone is having doubts on this they must analyze the case of
Lalit Modi vs. Chris Cairns whereas the consequence, Lalit modi had to pay the
fine of more than Ninety Thousand Pounds.
Here the important thing is that Facebook
and twitter are interconnected and if you talk about something on twitter so
Facebook gives the facility to show that thing up on your Facebook profile.
Many people don’t know that what is tweet
or comment or how to share.
Guru Sri Srinavasan is now telling that
how to use social media and for which purpose.
In real life, whatever we resemble with
the highest level of wisdom, the same things is considered the level of sanity
on Facebook and twitter. That’s why there isn’t any need to post anything more
than it is needed. Don’t give it much time. Even if you are doing it, don’t
show it off much. Whatever is written on twitter, remains forever or for a long
time and as the consequence, we may suffer from a real damage.
This is the advice given to you by Sri
Srinavasan who, in Columbia University, is the Dean and Professor of Graduate
School of Journalism. He teaches Digital Media Group in this school. In 2004,
News week magazine nominated him as one of the 20 most influential south Asians
of America. Is one of the educational sector of onlinechools.org. His Facebook
(http://www.facebook.com/sreetip) has more than 4000 weddings. The number of his twitter followers is
more than 22,000. At this (www.twitter.com/sree) they share information and recipes about technology, publish
articles and also provide notifications about employment. In an interview with
“Spain”, sri nawasan said, “you can use social media more securely to transmit
your views, instead of writing what you ate for breakfast”. Social media should
not be used to post stupid things and play games. It is the source of creating
the long term relationship and enhancing the link. So that someone can make a
good impression about you when they see your profile. Do not say that this
person ruins all his time.
In an American center, Siri Nawasan gave
answers to questions of a group of students from New Delhi. In that group most
of the students were not in favor of their parents to make friends on Facebook.
Siri Nawasan further said (by answering the questions of all the students) that
social media is not for playing games and waste your time. Social media can be
used through a lot of strategies rather than wasting the time by playing games.
One of the student named Ankite Laath
wrote on Siri Nawasan Facebook page, she said that “you have let us know how to
spend time on social media strategically, because being connected with the
world is also important. Though, in past we were connected with the world but
only for the sake of spending/washing our time but you us a strategic way to
spend time on social media.
A student form Ameeti International
School Noeda, named Shonak Bhanarji shared some type of thoughts. In an
interview vie email Shonak Bhanarji stated that social media is beyond than
liking or updating the status.
Mr. Arjun Sanghal, “The CEO of the
website providing guidelines to the Non-profit organizations and educational institutions”
said that if the content standard could be raised the social media could be
really helpful.
In New Delhi the Vice President of Nascom
foundation, Ms. Saghreeka Boss thinks that the thought shared by Siri Nawasan
are very useful for the volunteer organization of our network. Ms. Saghreeka’s
organization spread awareness about the topic like volunteering. They use
social media tools for advertising such topics.
Ms. Saghreeka further said that, I like
the saying of professor Siri Nawasan, he said that social media need to bs
reliable, because the Non-profit organization have few resources that why to
become more efficient these organizations need to start the work from a low
scale but they should be focused and have clear action plan.
In this season, thousands of Indian
students are heading towards American Colleges for studies, and by keeping this
point of view professor Siri Nawasan emphasizes that all the students should
use social media to be in contact with their loved ones living in India. He
further said, that students should also get connected to other people as well.
During the talk with professor Siri
Nawasan Ms. Nain Taara Kela Chand also interacted in the talk. She is the
founder of social networking. She further said that the social media is the
source of chit chat, if you wouldn’t accept that it’s your own loss.
They said the way in which the youth of
India is using social media is no different than the rest of the world’s youth
way of using the social media.
The appearance of google plus is very
interesting in the landscapes. It has come on the scene that the same time
throughout the globe. Though Facebook’s case was a bit different, it was used
by people in thousands then by the people of Columbia. There this action was
slow but here it took place faster that’s why it’s possible that sitting home
in this room are more likely to tell the purpose of google plus.
Former professor and the dean of Asian
University who also participated in the Siri Nawasan talk said that even at
this time even there are not so many use of google plus but due to the special
features multiple video chat and circler it’s most probably to successful soon.
The son of Nassoom foundation also added
to this that I’ll be ahead of time to say anything about the future of google
plus there is no doubt that since it’s launched, very large amount of people
have used it but to keep up the same reputation and uses google plus have to
work a bit harder.
Siri Nawasan says doing the task on the
command of your teacher or boss and completing it till the end has its own
importance because there are the people who will determine your success in the
future. Though it is important to prevent delay in your work but while using
Facebook or Twitter you must also realize where you are investing most of your
time and you should always remember that social media cannot solve your
problems for you.
