Translation-1 (Scope Of Translation) سنڌي

Sir in this lecture you've highlighted the importance of translation and how it helped us internationally and nationally. Translation has been the most important language source of this world. Through translation, we are enabled to understand different languages and different expressions of languages. The translation has also helped us to translate the well-known books and tv shows into the language we want and this is helping people in knowledge and entertainment to understand the other languages.

Translation-2 (What is Translation And How to do it)

The translation should be done by converting every word and sentence into the language you want to translate but we've to take care of the beauty of the original language by polishing the sentences of the language we've translated the original text into. But few of the words don't need any translation because they've known the same in other languages.

Sub Editor: Responsibilities & Skills

Sub-editor is known as the most important person of media specifically in newspapers and magazines. Sub-editor makes the original content more attractive and presentable. Sub-editor is the first and last person to look at the content before editing and after editing. The mistakes which will be done by sub editor can't be revised, they will be published as it is in the media. So the subeditor has this huge responsibility of editing and correcting mistakes. The chief editor is the supervisor of the sub-editor, the chief editor is going to give the original pieces which are going to publish. Sub-editor should always have a keen eye and observation on minor mistakes and have so much knowledge about the proofreading and the original news.

Sub Editor: Responsibilities & Skills by Sohail Sangi

points which I have understood are that the sub editor is the person who prepares newspaper and manage newspaper, their work is to check newspaper and magazine before publication, they have responsibility of correcting mistakes and make newspaper attractive for readers, sub editor manages, design of newspaper and they manage content according to institute. Sub editor checks technical things like spelling, grammar and punctuation and they check content, legal their work is to give news paragraphs, punctuation and proper font.

They check ethics and work accordingly, its work is to make graphs, the other major role of sub editor is to polish the newspaper by putting attractive eye catching captions and translating is also his/her work. Sub editor is always in contact with journalists, reporters and editors. His/her work is to make news small and useful and sub editor  adjust pictures and news at its exact place. They should have excellent communication skills, their observations and attention skills should be good, their English should be perfect and they should have good research skills, they should have creative mind and eye catching headline, they must have ability to meet deadline, they should have self confidence. Sub editor collects every news than select important and informative news and after that he give that news to chief editor and than chief editor divide that news to different sub editors and than they check if their is any mistake they correct that mistake and also add more information if needed. They make proper formation of newspaper, puts graphs and sub editor is first and last reader and they are mainly called as last defence line.

Difference between Newspaper and Magazine By Sohai Sangi

Magazines are mostly monthly and sometimes weekly and it’s way of writing is always informal and newspaper is published on daily basis and it’s way of publishing is formal. Magazine have different layout, big pictures are used and content is investigative and has more personal opinions.

Newspaper and magazine both gives us information but in total different ways. Newspapers have small articles and publication is always on current issues and magazine have big articles and variations and they have content in depth . In newspaper the news is always about different issues different news and content is published according to general audiences and  magazine have specific topics like fashion, medicine and many more and the audience is specific according to topic. Magazine’sdesign and layouts are good than newspaper and  newspaper is always available in cheap price and magazine price isalways heavy. Magazine’s paper quality is good than newspaper and have different pieces style, format, layout, quality and size than newspaper. Newspaper language is always formal and magazine language is always informal. Newspaper provides less entertainment and magazine have huge entertainment elements. Magazine is always creative, and have more innovative skills. In newspaper the first report is published and investigative reports are available and magazine asks for different mind different style and creativity.

Two Video's Feedback

BS-Part 3 - 2K18/MC/65

How to write headlines? Basic:

How to write headlines? Basics by Sohail Sangi

What is a headline?

Headline: Headline is the title of a news report run in display type to catch the attention of the readers. A headline summarises the most important point in a news report.

This video not only

Although, there are so many kinds of headlines and all these headlines are different from each other just because some have a different writing style and some are having a different design and layout.

For Example:

Streamer: Streamer is a headline that runs across all eight columns on the top of the page. It is used for momentous events, and is set in big and bold letters. The streamer is also called a Banner Headline or Main Lead.

Anchor lead: Any headline which is used at the bottom of Page one is known as Anchor Lead.

This was the first topic I studied which was all about the headline. Before, I didn't know about the entire concept of headlines I didn't know how to make headlines and what are the rules that must be applied when you write a headline.

But when i watched this lecture I got a chance to increase my knowledge specially about the most important things in newspapers like hammer, kicker, and tripod. Headlines can be consist of a single column or double column. Further i learned the way of how to write headlines and methods of writing headlines through this lecture my all doubts and confusion have gone now.

Sub Editor: Responsibilities and Skills:

Sub Editor: Responsibilities & Skills by Sohail Sangi

The second video was about Sub Editor, its responsibilities and skills. Editing is the most important job of journalism that is performed by a Sub Editor. A sub-editor checks over the stories which journalists write, making sure they are factually and grammatically correct and suitable for the target audience. They edit the headlines before fitting the stories into the available column space in the newspaper, magazine, or website.

In this lecture, there are several responsibilities of sub-editors have been discussed a few of them I am giving below:

1- Editing copy, written by reporters or features writers, to remove spelling mistakes and grammatical errors

2- Rewriting material so that it flows or reads better and adheres to the house style of a particular publication.

3-

4- Cropping photos and deciding where to use them for best effect and writing picture captions

5- Proofreading complete pages produced by other sub-editors using the main basic proofing symbols

6- Working to a page plan to ensure that the right stories appear in the correct place on each page

7- Laying out pages and, depending on the nature of the role, playing a part in page design.

Furthermore, a few basic points and features about the most popular newspapers like Dawn and Jung newspaper have been explained quite well. The material is interesting and structured. The lectures are very interesting, the lecturer explains these lectures so well. The content is relevant and useful it is well presented intelligently and interestingly.

In the end, I would like to thank my teacher for making these videos as I've gained a wide range of information from these lectures now I can study and make notes for my final exams easily.
