A trip to the Keenjhar Lake

This travel log is about the time that I was invited by my cousin's on a trip to the famous lake of Sindh that is known as the Keenjhar Lake. To start my journey let's go back to the beginning. One fine morning I was casually staring at the weather from my window and it was really beautiful that it was making me want to take a car and just drive somewhere but unfortunately I didn't know how to drive a car yet so I just dropped the idea and went back to making food. Suddenly I received a call from my cousins and they invited me on a long drive to the Keenjhar Lake, I quickly accepted it and started packing my stuff until they came to pick me up from my house. I decided to pack some food as well for the trip just in case anyone gets hungry during the traveling to the lake. They arrived about half hour after the call and my cousins Hafas and Uzma along with my uncle and a driver were there waiting for me. I quickly sat in the car and we started moving immediately from my house which was situated near the famous Resham bazaar of Hyderabad. We went on the Gull center road and stopped to buy some biryani for the way, so we made a stop at Al shareef biryani and had some take away for the trip. While buying my biryani I had totally forgotten that I also brought food from home, but more is better as such say! We proceed back on the road all the way to hussainabad chowk and went right hand towards the bridge of Kotri. After the Kotri Bridge the road was open for us to take some pictures and sing songs. But to be honest the driver was very lazy on his driving skills on the road we had gotten really hungry so i told them I brought food and they all were happy and wanted to have a little bit and then save some for the picnic at the lake aswell. But when we started eating we couldn't stop ourselves and ate all of it. I guess everyone loved the food I cooked they even opened up the biryani that we just recently had bought we even devoured it all because the driver was driving really slowly. After feeding ourselves we finally were in a mood to take some pictures along the way and sing songs, crack some jokes. When suddenly the car started getting slower and slower and came to a sudden halt. The driver moved out of the car checking the tire and I was looking at him as soon as he went out he put his hands on his head and I quickly realized we probably just had a flat tire.

And I was right we got stuck here in the middle of nowhere because of this but at least my uncle always kept a spare tire for such occasions. They started switching the tyres and so me and my cousins didn’t miss this opportunity to capture some memories outside the car, there was literally this vast open road after the Kotri bridge deep inside I kind of wished that this tire get flat on the bridge so atleast we had some amazing scenery for our pictures.

After the tire was swapped we progressed back on the road towards Keenjhar finally. The rest of the journey we didn't see anything worth mentioning, I was personally very excited to visit the lake because I had heard many stories about Noori's grave, the famous tale of Prince falling in love with a fisherwomen. This story was even mentioned in SHAH JO RISALO, because of all this hype I really wished I could see the grave of Noori as it is stated by the legends that the grave  is in middle of the lake in all these thoughts I didn’t know when we reached the Keenjhar lake and I was amazed by the amount of people there and so many vehicles stuck together so we couldn't even find a parking spot for ourselves for like half an hour after finally finding a spot for our car, we got off and grabbed our stuff to set up near the lake. My cousin brought her tri pods and selfie sticks for this trip as she likes to vlog trips such as these and I like to write instead. As we walked towards the lake my eyes widened at the crowd even more as so many people were jumping into the lake and in boats some just sat near the lake and took photos. But my cousins had already decided to head inside the water so they gave their stuff to my uncle and so did I, and we jumped inside the water and I drowned immediately, for a second I had forgotten that I don't have a single clue about swimming, so my cousins quickly helped me stay up on my feet they all laughed at me and my uncle got a safety tube just for me so I don't get drown. Which was very considerate of him as my height really doesn't help me inside the water and because of all this I was not able to request to go to the shrine of Noor Jam Tamachi because of the little stunt I pulled.

The water to be honest was not clean at all. Actually the state of the entire lake seemed mildly hygienic at all. On top of that everyone was piled on top of each other with no management to control the crowds. Many cultures had come from different parts of Pakistan to take a dip into this lake. We got out of the water and dried ourselves and took some photos together afterwards we had to find a food stall as the food we were bringing to eat here had already been devoured on the way. We found a gol gappay stall and ran towards it. Gol gappay are a desi ethnic treat with wheat fried balls filled with chatni and beans which is a lovable treat amongst Pakistan. We had plenty of gol gappay but the sun was starting to set and we had to head back home as it would get very dark soon. So we headed back for the car to set out back towards our towns. On the way back we decided to make another stop for some tea at a local "dhaba" as such people call it a dhaba is a kind of tea spot for travelers to make a quick spot and rest themselves for the rest of journey. We had some tea which was amazing in taste it really got us energized, and after the tea we got back on the road. They dropped me off at my home and left for theirs and I told them how thankful I was for this sudden journey. I was upset for not being able to see the grave closely but over all I enjoyed it so much that I decided to write this travel log on it, so this was my quick adventure towards Keenjhar Lake.

I would on my part recommend people to go there, because for enjoyment it is a lovely place to be. But on many parts you have to cautious like hygiene, clear water and place. You have to be early for a good parking spot and place to sit.
